Helical Piers Vs. Push Piers. What’s the difference?

For years the buzzword among engineers with regards to foundation repair and foundation stabilization was “Helical Piers”. While we are very much “pro-helical piers”, there are also different types of piers for different situations that may serve better, depending on the circumstances; we want to explain the difference between helical piers and other piers or piles that we install, such as micropiles and push piers (also known as resistance piers or resistance piles).

-Helical piers are ideal for new construction, light structures (such as columns, support beams, decks, extended rooflines, etc.)

-Push piers are ideal for existing concrete footings and foundations, areas where small equipment is needed, and rocky soil areas
